You chill the Special Constables' blood with tales of the sorrow-spiders, giant rats, Unfinished Men and other monstrosities you've encountered. You exhibit your scars and describe in detail how you got them. The Constables apparently absorb a lot of this information. Unfortunately one in four of them request reassignment at the end of the day. Your employers are not pleased, and find a clause in your agreement which allows them to pay you only a token amount.
