What's it like being a tomb-colonist?

Halfway between being a leper and being bankrupt. They're difficult, these people. You never know quite what to say to them. 'How are you?' rarely goes down well. Down here you can't really talk about the weather, either.

Bandages and Dust: The Tomb-Colonies (Std)

The semi-dead of London are encouraged to leave the city… but sometimes they return. They are old and broken and terribly deadly.

Go shooting with a Sharp-eyed Gamekeeper

Before his mauling, this fellow used to shoot marsh-wolves near the observatory. He's not what he was, but he's still a crack shot. This will improve your Dangerous.

Fence with a Veteran Sergeant of Hussars

The sergeant doesn't look like much these days, but he carries a photograph of when he was young, back in the Crimean War. He can be persuaded to unsheathe his sabre on occasion. This will improve your Dangerous.

Solving a case: ask Tomb-Colonists

Generally they avoid the concerns of the living, but they might know something…This is slightly effective.
[A matter of luck: the odds are strongly against you here.]

The unquiet dead

A clatter of hooves; hoarse voices raised in song. A phaeton pulls up beside you, slewing dangerously. Two bandaged figures sit hunched at the front. "Wine," the one on the left croaks. "A bottle of good wine, and you can ride with us." The other one waves an arm. "Ride. Ride!"
[A matter of luck: it could go either way]

The unquiet dead, once more

Here they are again! The guffawing tomb-sisters they call the Mercies, clattering up in their phaeton. One is smoking a pipe: a chancy proposition for a bandadged tomb-colonist. "Wine for thrills," the left-most Mercy croaks.
[A matter of luck: it could go either way.]
