You rob a greengrocer, shout THIEF! in a crowded street, pay Fisher-King urchins to steal a Constable's helmet and generally ensure the law is kept busy. Unfortunately the disturbance you've created spreads, until a fight in the middle of the street overturns the coffin wagon. You don't see what it contains, but the helmetless Constable does, and he doesn't seem impressed. You make yourself scarce.

You wait in the appointed street at the appointed time. You tap the courier on the head. You retrieve the box - Good God, it's heavy! - and take a careful look around. No-one.

Unfortunately, there's no-one at the Stuttering Fence's place either. Except a number of inconspicuously placed Constables, invisible to the untrained eye. You recognise them instantly by the strength of their moustaches.

What's going on here? You've no-one to sell this box to. You certainly can't open it.
