The Persuasive quality determines your ability with words. Actions in Veilgarden, The Shuttered Palace and The Empress' Court exercise this quality. Also, certain Opportunity cards give Persuasive challenges. Persuasive is one of the attributes (with Watchful) for the Heart's Desire Ambition. If you fail a Persuasive challenge, you will get a second chance if you have a Token of Admiration, a Confident Smile or a Twincandle. …but you used up a Token of Admiration to get a second chance! …but you used up a Confident Smile to get a second chance! …but you used up a Twincandle to get a second chance! When you get a second chance, you can choose between any of the options for that storylet and you need not select the same option. (If you do not choose an option, you will lose the Token of Admiration, Confident Smile or Twincandle.) Most challenges unlocked with Persuasive Quality of 33 and higher raise your Scandal by 1 change point if you fail. This text will appear when failing an action raises your Scandal. Now you're reaching higher levels, failures at Persuasive challenges will often increase your Scandal. There are many ways to reduce Scandal, including a social action when it rises high enough.
