|
You can seek out hidden treasures in the Forgotten Quarter by going on archaeological expeditions. First you will need to prepare by accumulating Expedition Supplies using various kinds of secrets, goods and connections. You will need at least 10 for the simplest expeditions but many more for more daring expeditions.
Once you have finished accumulating supplies, you can choose an expedition, then pursue the expedition with various storylet options, using up your supplies and making progress (Archaeologist's Progress) toward the goal.
Other helpful options may be available, depending on Airs of the Forgotten Quarter. Complications may also arise or you may discover rivals that will compete with you, as well.

I think" - he hesitates delicately - "there is a connection with the Nadir." This is a difficult Expedition. Ensure your Watchful is above 100 and stock up on as many supplies as you can manage - 60 at the very least. But once you've found the Cave, you can return more easily.

White walls in the sun
The Palace! The Khan's pride made manifest! The roads of the world cross beneath its hawk-fierce gaze. It shimmers in the heat: for a moment it seems almost fragile.

The tent-city
This is where the tent-city of the traders stood. Stone now. Of course after the Fall, they must have built for the cold of the underearth. Tents would have been wretched. A shame. How brave the crack of the flags, the lift of the tent-fabric in the desert wind. The cries of the hawkers of spiced cakes and airag. The red of the setting sun.
Unlocked with Airs of the Forgotten Quarter
A chance to hinder Dr Orthos
You've heard that Orthos patronises the Parlour of Virtue, that house of debauchery. If you know details, perhaps you can take advantage… This will reduce Rivals' Progress, if you're successful.
