Currently, the plan is to give us advance notice when content is coming that they want to remain unspoiled. We will then update this page and treat that stuff the same way we do Fate-locked content now.

If anyone wants more information, or if this is unclear, I'll do my best to clarify.

Looking at Ladybones for example, there's both single-quoted and double-quoted storylets. (I kind of like the double >> indent more but it looks like there's more of the single > indent on random pages I look at.)

Also- some pages have blue text to indicate missing choices, some have "Reward Spoiler (unknown)". (Personally, blue text was confusing to me for the first week looking at stuff here — I think it's only mentioned explicitly on Code Snippets — I was assuming it had something to do with fate-locked stuff since a lot of the fate-locked pages were blue. Just putting "unknown" is cleaner from my perspective.)

Lastly - spoiler policy. (Incidentally, that page is so much clearer now, thanks to Mr. Teem. Good work there.) One question though - is posting the text that you get after choosing a branch okay to post, as long as you keep it under 250 chars? I've been working under the assumption that it is NOT allowed/encouraged, and been editing that out as I go (though most pages do have it, which is why I'm uncertain how far to go. Just legacy left over from a less restrictive time?). (See New Newgate Actions spoiler boxes for an example of what I'm talking about here.)

(If/Once a standard is agreed on, I'm planning to wrangle the How To Edit Pages into something more useful/specific to this particular wiki, and probably add another intro page or two.) Thanks!

New to the wiki here (though not altogether inexperienced with wikiing lovecraftian text-based online rpgs). :)

I'm wondering if there's an overview list of all "Qualities", or if it would be useful to create such a page? I see the menu at the top which lists major things like Shadowy, but there's a lot of story-related stuff that would be neat to wiki (can we post story-related qualities like Preparing for a Daring Escape?).

(I'm surprised there isn't an overview page "Qualities" itself. That might make it less confusing for newcomers perhaps.)

EDIT: Hm, I now see that maybe I was looking for the Minor Qualities page or Storylets? Though a lot of these are missing. Is there a rhyme or reason why some of these are their own page and some are links to areas? (And if, say, I were to start cataloging those more thoroughly, would there be any objections?)

Since now that is complete, I have edited the front page warning to speak generally and added a section (from wiki editor to wiki editor) that I believe captures the spirit of what we should do with questionable posting of FBG content.

I will soon reach out to FBG for a (semi) official blessing to ensure the site remains in good faith with the developers.

So I got a point of fate from a certain opportunity card. The card showed up again, I chose it again, and got another point of fate.

Is this intended behavior? Or should I contact Fail Better Games and report this bug?

Is this a decent quality of life improvement for trying to create links? Is it worthwhile to create a bunch of these in case it might be useful, or just go case-by-case?

I have no idea where I got this item or what it does if I click on it. All I really know about it is it's mouseover text and it's sell value to the bazaar (50 pence). Also I can find no mention of it on this wiki.

I have found the problem! Apparently, if the card's cell… The box around it… If it is not larger than the card image, that is what breaks things. Spacing out the elements fixes the problem entirely. I suspected this might be the problem when I noticed that simply clicking the link to expand the card fixed the formatting temporarily.

So now we know.

Unfinished Business in Ladybones Road, wherein you can get 100 Secrets for 1 Appalling one. This will take a total of 800 actions (16 days). The first drawback here is that I'd need 800 Appalling Secrets to reach the quantity I'm looking for (and I only have 100 at the moment). And the second is that once you run out of Appalling Secrets, you're finished.

The Empress' Court, wherein you can get:

[at Pers. 100] 84 Secrets, 10 change points of Society
This will reach the destination after a little under 1000 actions (20 days). The drawback here is that I have to refrain from finishing my business in the Court — once I'm banished, these options are gone.

I refuse to believe that my luck is just this bad. I've been having dreams of every other kind. Has anyone else noticed the scarcity of Death By Water dreams?

Either it was just changed, or attempting it enough times changes the outcome.

Compared to what I had seen previously (which matches the wiki), I got the following:

Well, however intriguing that was, it looks like you'll need to offer him something else to actually get what you need. You've lost 500 x Nevercold Brass Sliver (new total 5118). You've gained 1 x Inkling of Identity (new total 41).

I know it wasn't doing that when I first tried it (I've been occasionally dumping brass on him for a while now hoping that if you showered him with *enough* brass he might finally give in). The last paragraph and the Inkling weren't there when I started though — are they an addition or something that only shows when you've done it enough to be stupid?

Now I'm looking at the Stories menu and I'm not sure what to do. Part of why it is bothering me is that my characters are currently not in any of the stories currently in the list, thus defeating the purpose of the menu. And the Other Stories page isn't that well organized, either. It's marginally faster for me to use the Search function.

The dozens of stories in the game can't be classified easily. (Unlike, say, Ventures which are at least tied to a major Quality.) Or, at least I haven't found an easy way. Not that that's a bad thing — I like that little Stories pop up in unexpected places — but not having any easy taxonomy makes it difficult to come up with a reasonably efficient menu.

(The Story page needs to be alphabetized and cleaned up, at least, if no other way to organize it is found.)

Is there another way to get to the Tomb-Colonies besides scandal?

Are there any good sources of candles availible to me, or should I just start grinding saleable goods?

I tried to break the 'Places' Menu into several different menus because at this point, there are so many things in the list i have to scroll down to see the bottom ones, and with the Unterzee coming out there are going to be a dozen more locations.

I wanted to break them into a 'Places in Fallen London', 'Special Places', and 'The Unterzee' menus, but doing so caused the menu bar to screw up big time.

Failbetter Games left a note in the page for Seeking Mr Eaten's Name. I wanted to capture it here in the Forum so others can see it. Arguably, that page in particular was what Failbetter Games was objecting to—wikis like this one are always skirting a fine line and, in their opinion, that page crossed it.

Is anyone else seeing this? For example, I've got "Provide training at the Department of Menace Eradication" in Watchmaker's Hill again.

I thought I would ask since I don't see anything specific on the BetterBlog and I can think of one thing I did that might have screwed things up on my system.

I know you can do this, I just don't know how. I am pretty awful and new at this stuff (and for that I apologize).

While I'm here, I also had a question about the way the Watchful (and dangerous etc) cards are compiled. They have really specific "Unlocked" groupings, which doesn't seem to match how the cards Unlock (which might be a recent change). It progresses 21 - 33 - 45 - 57 - 69 - 81, while I have encountered cards Unlocked basically on a 1-100 basis, and not on some odd progression. Like this card, which unlocked at 40. Could we change the grouping to 20-30-40-50-60 etc, unless there is something I am missing in the way they are arranged?

'Menace', 'Progress' and 'Minor Qualities' shouldn't be here.
('Menace' and 'Progress' are included in 'Minor Qualities' and should be completely removed. 'Minor Qualities' is already under 'Qualities'.)

- 'Cards'
'Auto-fire Cards' should be 'Red Bordered Cards' since that's how they appear. (The fact that they auto-fire is on the page.)

Most notably, there is a discontinuity in actions. I think there should be some page establishing a standard for added actions.

The problem with that version of the code is that, at least in Firefox, the spoiler can be shown and hidden once and then is disabled entirely.

If this isn't something people think is important, that's fine with me, but I think it might help. And I know that even with a standard, it would take quite a bit of time to get everything already existing updated. At least we could do it for new things?

Probably the easiest thing to do would be surround it all with

With a line that says it currently requires fate. Then you could just remove the two ends. This works over multiple lines, so you could just comment out the entire page with that disclaimer at the top. Then when it goes public, all your hard work is still there.

We could also use this to have content created but in reserve for when it goes free. A page might look like this:

Page title... This content currently requires fate to access. [!-- All your content as many lines as it has images whatever --] -------------- Standard disclaimer goes here
