Things to do at Wolfstack Docks...
…Further into Fallen London
|
|
|
|
Once you have become a Person of Some Importance you can go to Wolfstack Docks and begin the process of acquiring a ship. A ship is necessary to travel on the Broad Unterzee beyond Fallen London. The process is fearsomely expensive, even more so for more exotic craft. You may only own one vessel but you can turn it in and start again from scratch if you decide you want to have a new vessel.
Buying a Ship
Make your way to the shipyards of Leadbeater & Stainrod, the Neath's foremost seafaring and boat-building concern.

Anyone at home?
Stride through the steam and the din of hammers to a surprisingly poky commissioning office at the back.
'What do you mean, a six year wait?!'
The Naval Architect sympathises with your frustration. He sucks his teeth and shakes his head in a manner that suggests long years of practice. 'Well, yes. Generally there is a six year wait for a new ship.' …

You hurl two seamen into the oily black waters. You fell a quartet of porters with a handy sack of coal. You shout inspiring poetry and furious abuse at your private army as the situation demands. You are magnificent.
The Audacious Explorer's staff are loyal and skilled, but they falter under the barrage of sticks and bricks from your merry company of footpads. The Audacious Explorer is no fool. When she sees how the wind is blowing, she audaciously leaps over the side and audaciously swims away.
You stoke the engines and steam out from the docks. Good god, but she's fast. You leave London in your churning wake. And then you turn around and head back. You've salvaged the ship, at least in legal terms. She is yours! Huzzah!

'But, my dear, of course you should come and play! I understand that a seat at the table is quite expensive, but I'm sure that you'll be up to it. It would be lovely.
